Over the past four summers Frisbie’s Dairy Barn has become a staple of Connecticut Ice Cream. With a strong focus on service and high quality ingredients Frisbie’s has become a fun, comfortable gathering place for the community as well as a destination for people across the state. By making fresh, handmade ice cream daily and offering a variety of flavors, cakes and novelties, customers find themselves returning again and again to enjoy the magic of Frisbie’s!
The idea for Frisbie’s first came about when Michael Frisbie was looking to purchase the plot of land that Guida’s Milk Bar operated on for fifty five years. The community talked so highly of Guida’s and clearly missed having a great place for ice cream in New Britain. This led Michael to Ice Cream University, where he learned how to make the highest quality ice cream and Frisbie’s Dairy Barn was born. On July 17th 2015 we opened our doors to lines through the parking lot. The community was so impressed with the quality of products and the effort to support local business. Frisbie’s uses the original Guida’s dairy mix to make all of our ice cream, and serves Avery’s soda, which is located right in New Britain. At our core, we are all about freshness and quality. Starting with ice cream, our own fresh hot fudge, out of sight sundae’s, shakes, cakes and ending with great customer service!
After years of success and overwhelming support from the community, Michael found himself asking what he can do to give back. In 1990, he graduated from Nichols College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. Nichols helped teach him the tools that he has used throughout his career to be successful. Wanting to give back to this amazing institution, Michael decided to hand the reins of Frisbie’s over to Nichols College students looking to gain experience running a business.
Today, Frisbie’s is being managed by seniors at Nichols who are using the education they have received at Nichols to keep Frisbie’s values in tact! A portion of the profit from Frisbie’s Dairy Barn will be donated to a scholarship fund for students looking to study business. We are returning Frisbie’s back to what it originally was: original recipes, original ingredients, and fantastic customer service.
From the beginning, Michael’s goal has been to bring Ice Cream back to New Britain, we are here to make sure Ice Cream stays in New Britain and remains a place for families and friends to make new memories.
Eat Ice Cream. Be Happy.
We look forward to the upcoming season and cannot wait to see you all on May 18th!
